What is a Seamless Texture / Pattern?
A seamless texture is an special image, where one side of a image exactly matches the opposite side, so that the edges blend into each other when repeated. Seamless textures are used for desktop wallpaper, webpage backgrounds, video games, Photoshop fills and in 3D rendering programs.

How did you make it?
This texture was made using software specially designed to aid in seamless texture creation. Some of the programs I’ve use are Photoshop, Illustrator, Filter Forge, Genetica, Image Synth, Alien Skin, Topaz Labs, Imagelys, and a Wacom tablet.

Reflections of Failure - NJ Devils

The NJ Devils are officially out of the playoffs for the first time in 13 seasons. They've been in something like 20 of the last 22 play-offs. While this is an incredible track record, the weekend's loss still makes me think of only one thing...

Canon 7d and 60mm f2.8. Two speed lites, one each camera left and right. The main light was on the right, it's a bare speedlight on half power with a diffuser. I used a fill light on the left - collapsed umbrella and 1/4 power speedlite. ISO was 200, and I had the lens wide open.

Project 50/50 - Week 6 "Attack of the Commets?"

No, not really... It was just my picture for Project 365 - February 12, 2011.
This is my yard looking almost straight south. The lights in the foreground are the neighbor's shed. The lights on the horizon are some houses about 1.5 miles away.

This was a shorter exposure - only about 2 hours. The settings were ISO 500, F7.1, and 30 seconds. This was stitched together in Photoshop.

Tom's Goated Desktop

Tom, a coworker of mine left his computer unlocked and went to lunch. So, we made a few adjustments.

1) Used the video driver settings to rotate the display upside down
2) Rotated this picture 180* and made it his desktop wallpaper
3) Locked his computer

For more information about the"noble art of goating" check out this article on Coding Horror.

Update 2011-12-09: He left his workstation unlocked again. This time, we changed all of his system sounds to this one.

Update 2012-01-31: Sadly, we learned that goating violates a company policy. As a consolation, Tom's boss, @raschke gave him(us) this trophy.
